The Wine Advocate – Robert Parker 92/100
The Clos Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Forey Père & Fils has a delineated, nicely focused bouquet with crisp red cherry and strawberry scents, more “open for business” compared to its peers with subtle mineral/cold stone elements becoming more obvious as it swirls in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, slightly chalky in texture but tensile. I like the energy here, even if it deserves more persistence to show through on the finish. One to watch.
Vinous – 90-92/100
Good medium red. Quite oaky on the nose, like the Echézeaux, offering aromas of redcurrant, spices, licorice, herbs and pepper. Then a bit more harmonious in the middle palate than the more masculine Echézeaux but still reticent, conveying strong saline minerality. I find this quite tannic but not astringent.
Domaine Forey Père Et Fils
Domaine Forey is al 4 generaties lang een niet te versmaden pareltje in Vosne Romanée. Thans wordt dit huis geleid door Régis Forey, een gedreven producent, die steeds alert blijft voor het maken van zeer mooie kwaliteitswijnen. Misschien wel één van de kleinste domeinen uit Vosne Romanée, maar met fantastische, stijlvolle wijnen. Prijs-kwaliteit is dit domein een unieke ontdekking!
Zowel het huis, de kelders, als de wijngaarden grenzen aan het legendarische ‘Domaine de La Romanée Conti’. De huisstijl bestaat uit wijnen gemaakt op hun fruit, homogeen in smaak en mild in tannines. Hier wordt geselecteerd op het beste fruit. De welwillende stijl van deze wijnen vinden we vooral terug in zijn klassieke Bourgogne en Vosne-Romanée AOC, met zachte, elegante, romige tannines. Meer kracht en bewaarpotentieel vinden we in zijn Nuits-Saint-Georges en Premiers Cru’s.
