Rijke, volle Gamay met klasse. Een genereuze, robuuste wijn, met lekkere stevige tannines en een mooie fruitige smaak. Boeket van rijpe bananen en frambozengeuren, maar ook fijne bloemenaroma’s zoals rozen en viooltjes. Kan zowel (heel) jong gedronken worden, als na enkele jaren flesrijping met een flinke aanwas van charme en elegantie.
Domaine du Pélican Trois Cépages bestaat uit 60% Pinot Noir, 35% Trousseau en 5% Poulsard. De vrij rustieke, lokale druivenrassen Trouseau en Poulsard geven het beste van zichzelf in combinatie met de nobele Pinot Noir. Geuren van peper en rood fruit met een smokey toets kenmerken de neus, die, met zijn lichte hints van leder en zoet rood gekonfijt fruit, mooi in balans blijft dankzij de fijne en delicate aroma’s van de Pinot Noir. Een eerlijke, gastronomische rode wijn die zeer gul en sappig proeft, met fijne kruidige accenten en een energieke stijl. Deze rode Arbois combineert op een veelbelovende wijze de finesse en elegantie van een goede Bourgogne met de aromatische kracht van een Côte Rotie. Biedt eveneens een mooi bewaarpotentieel.

Blended of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and an expressive, alluringly spicy nose of cloves, cinnamon stick and fenugreek with a core of red and black currants, black cherries and wild blueberries plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied with very fine, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, it finishes long and satisfying.
Perricone is een inheemse druif, die al 100en jaren wordt geteeld op het landgoed van Feudo Montoni. De huidige wijnstokken zijn 40 jaar oud en werden met de hand geënt op wilde planten, een techniek waar men bijzonder fier op is bij Feudo Montoni. De benaming ‘Del Core’ verwijst naar de vorm van de wijngaard die, vanuit de lucht gezien, hartvormig is.
Deze wijn laat men fermenteren en gedurende 8 maanden rijpen in cementen cuves. Daarna volgt nog een vatlagering van 3 maanden en vervolgens 3 maanden flesrijping. De wijn is robijnrood van kleur met lichtpaarse reflecties en ruikt naar rijp rood fruit, pruimen, zoethout en cacao. Het is een robuuste maar toch zachte, volle rode wijn met mooi gepolijste tannines. In de mond proeft men mooi, rijp fruit, waarbij de noties van cacao en zoethout eveneens het mooi weer maken. De afdronk is vol en lang. Past uitstekend bij een rijkgevulde Italiaanse minestrone, bij rood vlees en bij oude kazen.
Vinous – Perricone del Core 2019 – 92/100
A mix of dusty ashen stone, black currants and hints of animal musk lifts up from the darkly alluring 2019 Perricone Core. This fills the palate with pliant, soft textures complemented by juicy notes of blackberry and inner lavender tones. It remains energetic and fruit-focused even as youthful grippy tannins settle in through the long finale, where hints of licorice and blueberry skins resonate. The Core does an excellent job of integrating the gruff Perricone tannins that often make this variety bitter and difficult to enjoy in its youth. Well done.

The Perricone grape (also known locally as Guarnaccia Nera) offers rich concentration and ample power, but it also shows a rustic side with hints of bramble and bitterness that are part of its DNA. The certified organic Feudo Montoni 2019 Sicilia Perricone Core is very true to the varietal with a noticeable richness, a smoky or spicy character and plenty of sweet cherry and blackberry. The mouthfeel is not too powerful, and the tannins are moderate, but this release of 26,000 bottles remains your proverbial steak wine nonetheless.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 de Fieuzal rolls sensuously out of the glass with compelling scents of baked blackcurrants, redcurrant jelly and wild blueberries followed by wafts of red roses, star anise, freshly ground coffee and tapenade. The medium-bodied palate is laden with loads of wonderfully subtle black fruit and perfumed flavors plus invigorating exotic spice sparks, supported by velvety tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and multi-layered.
Vinous – Oestricher Rosengarten 2018 – Score 90/100
Part of the Spreitzers’ Rosengarten monopole that informs this year’s vineyard-designated bottling wasn’t picked until late October, which seems to be reflected in the faint but pleasant oxidative notes of hazelnut, black tea, moss and bruised apple skin that mingle with ripe quince on the nose and the surprisingly firm as well as full palate. The lingering finish is intriguingly nuanced albeit a bit grainy.

Château Labégorce is een topper in Margaux. Jaar na jaar kan dit domein rekenen op 90+ scores van de meest toonaangevende wijnrecensenten zoals Robert Parker en The Wine Spectator. Rode draad in deze wijn is zijn rechtlijnig, fris en mineraal karakter met een overvloed aan fruit. Soepele, rijpe tannines zorgen steeds voor een zachte streling op de tong.

The 2018 Labégorce is a plump, juicy Margaux that will drink well right out of the gate. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice, licorice, chocolate and new French oak are all kicked up in this decidedly opulent, heady Margaux. Soft curves and pliant fruit add to its raciness. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Deze cuvée ‘Belle Lurette’ is een blend van zeer oude (70 jaar en ouder) en diep gewortelde wijnstokken Carignan (80%), Mourvèdre en Grenache. Deze hoogwaardige stokken vertellen het oude verhaal van de mannen en vrouwen die ze hebben gevormd over de jaren heen. Het rendement is zeer laag, maar de kwaliteit torenhoog. Hier creëert men een nobele, gedistingeerde wijn met een levendig karakter, verbazend fris en vol van smaak. Slow wine en hand made: vele handelingen gebeuren nog handmatig en voor elk proces wordt tijd genomen. Een wijn die duidelijk de stempel draagt van een zachte vrouwenhand. Zeer rijp rood fruit (kers), een mooie mineraliteit en een verfrissende aciditeit, afwerkt met zijdezachte tannines, geven aan deze ‘Belle Lurette’ een enorme persoonlijkheid.
Past bij heel wat gastronomisch eten.

Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate – 92-94 Tasted out of barrel, the 2015 Faugères Belle Lurette should be an incredible wine and a fabulous expression of Carignan. Made from 90% old-vine Carignan and the rest Grenache and Mourvèdre, all from higher-elevation schist soils and aged in stainless steel, it offers full-bodied, deep, rich aromas and flavors of black fruits, spice, new leather and dried violets. The tannin quality is first rate (and with Carignan, that’s not an easy feat). It should drink nicely right out of the gate.

Carignan-based (90%) 2016 Faugeres Belle Lurette is intense, concentrated and vibrant. Spice and garrigue notes feature prominently, joined by a mix of raspberries and cherries. This medium to full-bodied wine has a firm backbone of acidity, which gives it a firm, crisp finish. It should drink well for a decade.

The 2019 Caillou Blanc has a lovely nose, the Sémillon component quite expressive, with scents of honeysuckle, linden and wild peach, all well defined. The wild peach theme continues on the balanced palate, joined by passion fruit and a touch of dried banana. Add a little spice on the finish and you have a fine white from Talbot.
Vinous – Neil Martin – 93/100
The 2019 Fombrauge, which was bottled in spring 2021, retains the opulence that I found from barrel, still showing that heady mixture of blackberry, blueberry and a touch of cooked meat, if perhaps just requiring a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and generous, with succulent ripe tannins, a satiny texture and a gossamer finish that slips down the throat. Afford it 5–6 years and this should evolve into a lovely Saint-Émilion.

Very deep purple-black colored, the 2019 Magrez Fombrauge charges out of the gates with exuberant notions of blueberry pie, Black Forest cake and licorice plus hints of spice cake, clove oil and eucalyptus. The medium-bodied palate is jam-packed with ripe, concentrated black and blue fruit preserves, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long with a minty kick.

The 2019 Canon has a fine, detailed nose of blackberry, raspberry, scorched earth and just a touch of crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, poised and focused, yet serious. This is a Canon with breeding, but it is more of a long-term prospect compared to the 2018. A second sample at the château showed a bit more depth on the saline finish, and based on that example, I think this will become an outstanding Saint-Émilion.

The 2019 De Sales has a deep garnet-purple color, rolling effortlessly out of the glass with impressively intense baked cherries, plum preserves and fruitcake scents with nuances of potpourri, licorice, chocolate box and fragrant earth. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of ripe, seductive black fruit preserves, framed by rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

The 2019 La Réserve de Malartic is a blend of 82.6% Merlot, 12.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5.1% Petit Verdot, harvested from the 17th of September to the 11th of October. The wine is aging in French oak barrels, 25% new, for approximately 15 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with invigorating notes of black raspberries, kirsch and wild blueberries with hints of hoisin sauce, potpourri and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating juicy black and blue fruits with a pleasant chewiness to the texture and just enough freshness, finishing savory.

The 2019 Rauzan-Ségla is a statuesque Margaux that is all in reserve. There is plenty of power and depth, but the 2019 is pretty closed today. Even so, the 2019 is clearly a wine of harmony and exquisite balance that is playing its cards close to the vest. Sweet dark cherry, plum, licorice spice and a touch of new oak are laced into the vibrant, persistent finish. The 2019 is a super-classic Rauzan-Ségla that will thrill those who can wait. Tasted three times.

Aanbevolen bij gegrild of gesmoord vlees en bij oudere kazen.

The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla is a bold, dramatic wine. Ample and generous in feel, the 2018 wraps around the palate with serious density that continues to build through to the finish. Black cherry, mocha, lavender, licorice and spice fill out the layers. This is an especially rich, heady style for Radda, and it works so well.
