The 2014 Lafleur-Pétrus is a wine of translucence and total finesse. Deep and rich, yet also light on its feet, the 2014 Lafleur-Pétrus is one of the most distinctive wines of the vintage for the way in which it brings together intensity and elegance, all with an unmistakably understated personality. Bright aromatic top notes add to the wine’s open-knit bouquet and overall feeling of sensuality. A considerable amount of Cabernet Franc character comes through, even if Franc is only 7 % of the blend. All the elements are in the right place. In 2014, Lafleur-Pétrus is 93 % Merlot and 7 % Cabernet Franc.

The 2014 La Fleur Petrus is impressive out of barrel and it continues to evince quality now in bottle. It has a lovely, engaging bouquet with vivacious redcurrant and cranberry fruit, superb mineralité and energy, real focus and a sense of drive in situ. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a sense of symmetry and poise from start to finish. It has perhaps turned into a slightly more elegant and feminine wine than I anticipated, less bullish than the Hosanna. But there is real complexity on the finish with black pepper and clove lingering on the aftertaste. This is superb.

Bright red. Cool aromas of currant, cherry, tobacco and espresso. A juicy, nicely delineated midweight, with moderate flesh. Seems a bit less sweet than the 2003 but this is a rather elegantly styled Graves.

‘A brooding, dense red, the 2013 Proprietary Red Paradise Hills Vineyard captures all of the mineral and savory intensity of the year. Today, the 2013 is incredibly tight and shut down, with massive tannins and structure backing up the fruit. It will be quite a few years before the 2013 is ready to deliver the full breadth of its potential. Even today, though, it is magnificent. Next to the Mythicus, the Proprietary Red is a bit more aromatic, with less overt oak influence in its flavor profile and contours. In 2013, the Cabernet Franc is higher than in either 2012 or 2014. Dit is een uitermate zachte Champagne met pure aroma’s die aangenaam fruitig uit de hoek komen. The Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru Latitude from Larmandier-Bernier is a powerful, structured wine. Deep and resonant on the palate, the Latitude packs a serious punch. There is no shortage of depth or intensity, that much is clear. Like so many wines based on the 2015 vintage, the Latitude has a slightly vegetal quality lurking beneath the fruit that is evident but not to the point of being overpowering. Aeration helps that slight vegetal quality in the wine dissipate, although it does not disappear entirely. Dried apricot, sage, fennel, crushed stone all open up in the glass, adding layers of nuance. Readers should expect an imposing, rich Champagne that will be at its best at the dinner table. Like all of the Larmandier-Bernier Champagnes, the Latitude will offer its best drinking if opened several hours in advance. This release is 60% 2015 and 40% reserve wines. As always, Latitude emerges from clay rich soils that confer breadth. Disgorged: December 2017.

Smoke, lemon peel, crushed rocks, graphite, menthol, dried pear and chamomile nuances infuse this virile Champagne. Readers looking for a Champagne to drink at the dinner table will adore the Latitude. This is an especially fine edition. Don’t miss it. As always, the Latitude emerges from the southern part of Vertus, an area that has historically been planted with Pinot Noir, which was considered better suited than Chardonnay because of the clay-rich soils. Longitude is 1005 Chardonnay taken from chalk and limestone-rich sites in Vertus, Cramant and Oger that sit at the same longitude. The Latitude is brighter and more focused, while the Longitude is all about texture and palate weight. The current release is based on the 2013 vintage, with 40% reserve wines. The Longitude is a blend of fruit from Vertus, Cramant and Oger. Because Vertus is a 1er Cru village, the Longitude is necessarily a 1er Cru Champagne, despite the presence of fruit from Grand Cru parcels in Cramant. Disgorged: January 2017. Nutty, herbal suffusion of pear, lemon, and green zebra tomato makes for a succulently juicy as well as intriguing cuvee that contrasts sharply – no doubt as intended – with the corresponding “Latitude” bottling. Here we haven’t the aromatic fireworks – though a haunting evocation of flowered, grassy meadow emerges as the wine sits open – but there is an especially fascinating mid-palate exchange with, in part, ineffable elements of broadly mineral nature, leading to a finish of remarkable salivary compulsion and sheer length. This exceptional value in Champagne should merit following for at least 3-4 years.

De la couleur d’un jus d’orange sanguine, Le Rosé de Saignée Premier Cru est l’un des vins les plus profonds que j’aie dégustés. Ce champagne puissant répand en bouche d’éclatants fruits rouges rappelant un chambolle-musigny par sa luxuriance, mais étayé par une structure sérieuse. Absolument irrésistible, il est fort d’une richesse et d’un éclat renversants, déployant vague après vague arômes et saveurs, jusque dans sa longue finale extrêmement cossue. Ce champagne peut être servi sur n’importe quel plat qui accompagnerait un grand cru de Bourgogne mais, comme tous les grands vins du monde, toutes les occasions seront bonnes. Avec ce vin monumental, Larmandier-Bernier redéfinit totalement ce que peut être un rosé.

A standout in this range, the NV (2014) Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée Grand Cru is gorgeous, even if it is quite a bit lighter in color and style than was common in the past. Shorter maceration yields a Rosé built on energy and crystalline tension. Cranberry, mint, chalk, game and smoke infuse this super-expressive and hugely pleasing Champagne from Pierre and Sophie Larmandier. Disgorged: April 2017. Dosage is 3 grams per liter.
80% Sangiovese, 20% Malvasia Nera. Deze Chianti Classico is dé vaandeldrager van Castello di Ama. De harmonie en de elegantie die hierdoor wordt teweeggebracht, maakt van de Bellavista een buitenbeentje onder de klassieke Chianti Classico’s en één van de grootste wijnen ter wereld! Vertical of the Chianti Classico Vigneto Bellavista
This vertical of Castello di Ama’s _agship Chianti Classico Vigneto Bellavista was one of the more remarkable tastings I have ever had the privilege of participating in. From his very first vintage, 1982, Marco Pallanti was clearly onto something big. Readers still lucky enough to own that wine are in for a real treat. The single-vineyard Bellavista is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Malvasia Nera, a combination of indigenous grapes that works beautifully. The early vintages included a dollop of Canaiolo that was planted in the vineyard up until 1988, when it was ripped out in favor of the Merlot that would go on to produce L’Apparita. I also tasted the 2011 Bellavista in barrel, the firstt since 2007, and a year that it resembles from a stylistic standpoint.

The 2007 Chianti Classico Vigneto Bellavista is a knock out. Rose petals, flowers, all sorts of red berries and mint are some of the nuances that emerge from the 2007. Striking inner perfume, ripe tannins and phenomenal overall balance are the calling cards. Today the 2007 comes across as a modern-day version of the 1990 or, to use a more contemporary comparison, the 2004, but with more weight and also greater sweetness in the tannin. Either way, it is flat-out stunning and a must-have. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2037.
Antonio Galloni Vinous – 93+
The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista is quite reticent today. This is a decidedly mid – weight, lifted Bellavista with perhaps a little less structure than is typical. Violets, mint, sweet spices and plums all lift from the glass in a wine built on pure finesse. Typical Bellavista notes of lavender, plum and graphite appear on the finish. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the 2011 to blossom in bottle.

The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista opens to dark concentration, bold intensity and an immediate delivery of ripe fruit flavors. Stylistically speaking, this single vineyard Grand Selezione is extracted, muscular and extremely fruit forward. The heat of the 2011 vintage comes through loud and clear. Happily, the mouthfeel is tighter and more focused with dusty minerality on the tannins and long persistency.
Deze crémant bekoort van bij de eerste oogopslag met zijn lichtgele kleur, waarin groene schitteringen en een ketting van fijne pareltjes mooi spel spelen. De voor Bourgogne drie voornaamste druivenrassen tonen zich stuk voor stuk van hun beste kant: de rondeur en het aromaboeket van de Pinot Noir; de finesse van de Chardonnay en de speelse frisheid van de Aligoté. De verschillende herkomst van de druiven (Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits en Hautes Côte de Beaune) zorgt voor het perfecte evenwicht. De fruitige en discrete aroma’s maken deze crémant nóg verleidelijker. Ideaal bij het aperitief !
Blanquette de Limoux met een mooi oplichtende gele kleur met amberkleurige effecten, opgesmukt met ragfijne belletjes. Appetijtelijk boeket van brioche, witte bloemen (linde en meiklokje), witte pêche, appelmoes en gemalen amandel.
In de mond, verscholen tussen een overheerlijke crèmezachte mousse, ontwikkelt zich een smaak om U tegen te zeggen: vers wit fruit (peer en appel), bergamot, gedroogde abrikozen en kamillebloesem. Kortom: een expressieve, levendige Limoux met finesse en karakter!
60% Mauzac, 20% Chardonnay & 20% Chenin Blanc

Les vignes à l’origine de cette séduisante blanquette sont implantées sur des coteaux, à l’ouest de Limoux, en particulier sur la commune de Villelongue-d’Aude, ancien village fortifié construit en circulade. Dans ce terroir situé à 300 m d’altitude, le climat océanique atténué permet une expression aromatique optimale des cépages blancs de l’appellation. Cette blanquette or pâle libère des bulles fines et régulières, ainsi que des parfums intenses de poire williams et de chèvrefeuille. Vive et ample, elle dévoile en bouche des notes de pain grillé légèrement miellé. L’ensemble est remarquablement équilibré, onctueux et frais.
Prosecco Lorenzon, bestaande uit 100% Glera-druif, is mineraal en droog van structuur en trekt onze aandacht door zijn schitterende pareling en zijn aromatische kracht. Frisfruitige en bloemige aroma’s worden mooi ondersteund door fijne noties van appel en citrusfruit. Dit leidt ons naar een delicate en zachte smaak met perfect gebalanceerde zuren. Kortom: een excellente aperitief, maar kan ook geschonken worden bij stuzzichini of salatini, een keur aan kleine hartige hapjes of fingerfood. Ideaal om allerlei feesten mee te openen !
Cava Clos Amador is afkomstig uit het Noordoosten van Spanje, in de regio Penedès, waar deze bekende Spaanse mousserende wijn wordt geproduceerd volgens de “Méthode Traditionnelle”. Dit huis maakt mooie mousserende wijnen die als alternatief kunnen dienen voor Champagne voor allerlei feestelijke gelegenheden. Alleen de prijs is een stuk aantrekkelijker!
35% Xarello, 30% Parellada, 35% Macabeo. Deze cava heeft 15 maanden gerijpt in de kelders van dit domein. Resultaat: Een prachtige droge en nobele Cava. Fijne, geelgroene zachte pareling in het glas met gouden schittering. Complexe aroma’s van witte perzik met een fijn citrus accent. In de mond fris en elegant, eindigend in een uitstekende finale. Proeft perfect als aperitief maar kan ook op ieder moment van de dag gedronken worden. Wordt best geserveerd bij een temperatuur van 5º- 6ºC.
De uitstekende kwaliteit van deze Cava gaf aanleiding tot een speciale vermelding door de jury van de International Wine Challenge, georganiseerd door Wine Magazine.

100% Trepat. Kristalheldere rosé met ragfijne mousse die constant speelt in het glas. Genereus aroma van rode woud vruchten met vooral wilde aardbeien. Een zoet puntje karakteriseert deze verleidelijke demi sec, perfect in balans gebracht met de juiste verhouding aciditeit. Mooie lengte.
In het goedkopere segment van de schuimwijnen is het niet eenvoudig een goede kwaliteit te vinden. Wij proberen dit voor u op een glansrijke manier in te vullen: Opéra Blanc de Blancs is een veelzijdige speelse schuimwijn afkomstig uit de Sud-Ouest. Het is de cépage Ugni Blanc, die verantwoordelijk is voor het frisse karakter en heerlijke parfum. Onder de vele bubbels schuilt een uitstekende kwaliteitswijn met veel mooi fruit. Wanneer u onder vrienden bent, wordt het glas feestelijk geheven met deze plezierige mousseux!
