Ch Fonbadet 2018
Pauillac€ 32.79/ Per fles min. 12 flessen
The Wine Advocate – Robert Parker – 89-91+/100
This 20-hectare vineyard in Saint-Lambert (currently 17.33 hectares are in production) is planted to a density of 10,000 vines per hectare with an average age in 2018 of 60 years. The wine is aging in 50% new barrels and 50% second year barrels. The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Deep purple-black colored, the 2018 Fonbadet reveals intense notions of freshly crushed blackcurrants, kirsch and blackberry coulis with touches of truffles, crushed rocks, black pepper and unsmoked cigars. Medium-bodied and laden with ripe, juicy fruit, it has a soft, plush texture and just enough freshness, finishing earthy.
Vinous – Antonio Galloni – 91-94/100
The 2018 Fonbadet is gorgeous. Deep, pliant and expressive, the 2018 has so much to offer. In this vintage, Fonbadet has a bit more depth and overall richness than is often the case, which is not a bad thing at all. Black plum, spice and leather all resonate into the striking, textured finish. The 2018 is very nicely done. There are just 3,500 bottles of this fine and promising Pauillac. The blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Tasted three times.
J. Suckling – 91-92/100
