Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – 90/100
Characterized by gravelly soils, the 2019 Pontoise Cabarrus is a successful effort for this 28-hectare Haut-Médoc estate located not far from Sociando Mallet. Delivering aromas of rich berries, cherries, sweet soil tones and spices, it’s medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with good depth at the core, powdery tannins and a youthfully structured finish.
Vinous – Neil Martin – 90/100
The 2018 Pontoise Cabarrus has an attractive bouquet of vivacious dark cherries, raspberry and iodine aromas that are well defined and nicely integrated with the new oak. The medium-bodied palate delivers supple, lithe tannins matched with a fine bead of acidity. Menthol-infused black cherry fruit underpins the slightly medicinal finish, which leaves star anise on the aftertaste. This is quite primal and will deserve two or three years in bottle, but it should be worth the wait.
